Mita Vashisht, a post-graduate in English literature and alumni of the National School of Drama, (1984-1987). Mita has acted in fifty-one films, numerous television serials, the OTT and in theatre. Her early award-winning performances have been in the films of Mani Kaul,Kumar Shahani and Govind Nihalani. Recently she has won many awards for best actress for her OTT performances in Web series and Films. She has written, produced and directed for many Television and Theatre productions. , including the award winning ‘The Name of a River’, a docu-feature on Rhitwik Ghatak. She has been on the juries of several film festivals and is also a visiting faculty member at the country's premier film, acting, and design institutes. She conducts theatre workshops internationally, and also trains major web series and professional actors in her own acting studio ‘ The PROCESS’ based in Mumbai. She founded the ‘Mandala’ Space for Arts Collaboration Research and Education, a non-profit Organization, that works intensively to rehabilitate and empower the trafficked minors in a remand home in Mumbai, through theatre and performing arts modules.
